Are Your Words Bringing Life or Death?

Much of what I write comes from my Bible-reading each day.

Since my goal this year is to read it all four times I'm sure this theme will come up again. It is important .... VITAL! Everyone makes a difference in this area. It is not a status quo issue.

We have the power to unlock life or to usher in death. As to death, it can be all in one fell swoop. Many of us have experienced something said to us that was so cruel, so without care or thought that it dislodged our sure footing and sent us reeling like a stumbling drunk through life trying to get our bearings again. But often it isn't that dramatic. Perhaps it is the death of a thousand cuts.

Is your mouth the one that sends people toward death and turmoil? Or does it bring words of life?

How many times in my youth did I go looking for a quiet corner? These were times I wanted to sulk and be in the darkness. And I mean literal darkness because I wanted to be away from others who hurt even as I secretly just wanted someone to care enough to seek me out.

During these times I had a few individuals who had the ability to help me see whatever gifts or potential I was not seeing. They helped me pass by and beyond whatever crisis of spirit I was focused on.

These people inspired me to try and inspire others.

I never know how many people read these. I don't know who stumbles across them or who searches them out beyond the likes or comments. If it is judged by the likes, it is a hand full.

I view it like the man wandering the beach after a storm, upon which was cast so many star-fish there was no possible way to count the number. Every few moments he would bend down, pick one up and cast it back into the ocean.

As someone watched him relative to what remained, he noted, "Do you see how any of them there are? You can't possibly make a difference to so many."

The man reached down, picked up and cast another as he replied, "I made a difference to that one." From that moment, others saw TWO people walking that beach throwing them back out into the sea.

You have either the gift of life or the curse of death that your interaction with others brings. What will you focus on as the Holy of Spirit of God lives and breathes in you?

"From the fruit of a person’s mouth his stomach is satisfied, with the product of his lips is he satisfied. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:20-21
